  • Do you perform state emissions testing?
Harrell & Beverly does not provide state emissions testing. We recommend finding an appropriate shop in the state where you are looking to have your vehicle recertified for this type of service. We do provide testing and repairs for emissions systems.
  • Do you have a diagnostic fee? Does that go toward my repair bill?
Yes, we do have a testing and evaluation cost and it does not get credited to your final repair bill. Having us perform testing and diagnostics on your vehicle will save you time, money, and hassle. Say your vehicle is making a weird noise. Your brother, neighbor, and coworker give you three different possibilities – which is correct? Your wallet can’t afford to gamble with making unnecessary repairs. Car problems are like medical problems; both require a professional to find a solution to a problem you can’t solve.
  • Can you provide me with an estimate over the phone?
We are unable to give accurate estimates over the phone until we are able to evaluate the vehicle. That would be unfair to you and unfair to us. The exact cost of any repair is unknown until performing diagnostics. As a vehicle owner, you shouldn’t make decisions based on ballpark figures. A shop may give you a cost over the phone, but if the figure is too high, you unknowingly overpay, and if the figure is too low, you will have to fork over more money. The best way for us to help you is to diagnose the issues in person, and then we are better able to inform you of the cost of repairs.
  • I've already had my vehicle looked at by another shop. Can I get an estimate from you to compare?
Your vehicle is much like taking it to another doctor for a second opinion. For us to provide answers, we need to do our own evaluation so we can provide you with an accurate estimate.
  • Should I buy an aftermarket insurance policy?
Short answer - it depends. They are usually not worth the money and are written to favor the seller and not the buyer. People believe these polices will cover everything under the sun. But most policies only cover certain components, not all components required to do jobs correctly, and leaving you to pay the difference. It all comes down to the numbers. We have seen many instances where insurance companies try to payout less for repairs than they made selling the policy. Read your policy carefully.
  • Can you provide service under my extended warranty?
Yes, we work with aftermarket warranty companies (AWC). We will present our findings and recommendations, and prepare an estimate, to the AWC just like we would to you. Please note: Sometimes the AWC will approve everything with no questions. Sometimes they will send an inspector to compile their own report which can cause delays. Sometimes they will deny recommended service or repair depending on the wording of your agreement. And sometimes they will only approve a portion of the estimated dollar amount. When this happens you would be responsible for the difference including the deductible. Bottom line is that we work for you and not for the AWC. We will represent you as best we can, but if the AWC is not doing what needs to be done then you can decide to not use them or contact them directly to try and resolve whatever the issue may be. We would be happy to read through your AWC agreement to help answer any questions you might have!
